People write wishes on wooden panels and hang them around the sacred tree. Monks relay them to the gods at the morning ceremony.
We liked this person’s humble wish.
And because Tokyo is a city of contrasts, we end the day in Shinjuku (after we eventually find our way out of the station – more than three million people move through it every day, making it the busiest transport hub in the world).
